Decision-support software vendor MicroStrategy has released DSS Broadcaster 5.5 software, which it said will allow companies to develop active information portals.
With the software, it essentially would allow a user to deliver tightly targeted e-business intelligence generated with online analytical processing tools over the Web and varied wireless channels, such as mobile phones and pagers.
The software can do this thanks to a new XML generation engine that uses the power of XML to publish the same information in a wide range of formats.
The company also announced version 5.6 of DSS Agent, a tool that helps organisations gather business intelligence via the Web and wireless channels.
The listed improvements to this product are less far-reaching than those to DSS Broadcast. They include a report wizard, better support for international languages and tighter integration with third-party applications.
Both products are available immediately. Cost varies according to individual implementations.
