Keeping up with the Joneses in the ever-changing mobile phone fashion stakes is set to become even more difficult as Nokia unveils its plans to launch a line of luxury handsets.
According to reports from Reuters, the phones will be handmade and may include precious gems.
Nokia Vertu, which will construct the glamorous mobile phones, will be based in London and is to employ around 200 people, according to reports.
Tapio Hedman, vice president of communications at Nokia, confirmed to Reuters that Vertu will announce the start of its operation on 21 January, but said that details on products will remain confidential for now.
"The finest in personal communications is coming soon, combining craftsmanship, design, technology and service. A perfect object both in form and function," promises the company website.
