Notebook manufacturer Sharp claims it is set to steal a march on the Windows CE 2 front.
Sharp, which makes TFT screens for many other notebook companies and has deals in the UK with retail outlets like Argos, has announced three CE devices with monochrome models prices at #450 and #550. The colour model will undercut rivals by at least #250, at #799 including VAT.
The models will also be earlier to market than Casio's and HP's models, with units set to ship at the end of this month.
The other companies' products are delayed, according to sources close to their plans, while HP's offering is not expected now until March at the earliest, said one insider.
