The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) is believed to be in preliminary discussions with ICL about licensing its Policy Scheduler Unix-based resource scheduling tool to integrate into its UnixWare operating system.
The product, which ICL launched this week along with its new family of Sagister servers, allocates resources to applications based on pre-set user priorities. ICL hopes to position the Sagister range at the top end of the Unix space to compete with suppliers such as IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
