Sybase?s PowerSoft business plans to ship version 11 of its Watcom C/C++ development tool at the end of February, despite a recent focus on its Optima ++ C++ rapid application development tool. The new offering will cost $395 or $199 for upgrades, and provide improved export capabilities for moving existing C and C++ code into an Optima++ environment. It will also support runtime type identification and include pre-compiled header support and an incremental linker to speed up development. Version 11 is optimised for Pentium Pro and MMX-based hardware.
