A bullish EDS said on Tuesday morning at Comdex that its new bluesphere agency would "own" systems integration in the ebusiness area.
Brad Rucker, president of bluesphere, reported that the firm has emerged from the stealth mode it has operated in so far to launch publicly with 2525 employees and over 750 customers.
It combines the integration of creative design and ebusiness applications into the websites of corporates and those dotcom businesses they believe have longevity.
"Customers are increasingly demanding that front- and back-end applications are integrated so that problems such as sites crashing and unnecessary waiting times are minimised," he said.
"Other business issues addressed by bluesphere include branding/identity, connectivity, selling goods/services, personalisation, customisation, customer care, loyalty/retention, visual image development, marketing, content/navigation control and community building," he added.
EDS is ready to work across the full spectrum of websites, whether consumer, business or government oriented, said Rucker. The company has been involved in the Inland Revenue's controversial website, designing the online self-assessment tax return web page.
EDS has also announced $1bn in new business agreements with public and private sector clients globally, including the UK government's Employment Service.
The Modernising Employment Service project involves the installation of 9000 touch screen kiosks, or Jobpoints, throughout the UK and the replacement of about 30,000 PCs in Jobcentres with Windows NT PCs.
EDS said it will be the biggest managed network of touch screens and the second largest roll out of Windows NT PCs in the world to date.
