The European market for Internet and online service providers will be worth over $6 billion by Year 2002, according to a report by market research firm, Datamonitor. The study, entitled 'Making Money in New Media Markets', indicates that some 44 million European households will be online by the Year 2002 as the amount paid by consumers for access and a basic package of content steadily decreases. Charging will move from flat fee subscriptions to pay-as-you use transaction-based payment for premium content packages.
