WH Smith is preparing to launch a raft of new online stores under its own brand name.
Last year, the UK high street retailer paid #9 million for The Internet Bookshop, which now goes under the name bookshop.co.uk. It also acquired its sister sites, CDParadise.com, VideoParadise.com and GamesParadise.Com.
But a company spokesperson confirmed that The Internet Bookshop and Paradise Web sites will start trading as WHSmith Online from this month, in preparation for the company?s move into cyberspace. The URLs will remain the same for the time being, however.
Internet Bookshop credit card statements will initially be replaced with WHSmith Online, but other changes will include system adjustments for accounting and customer support.
