Microsoft today unveiled version 5.0 of its Visual C++ development environment, Professional Edition. The new release has a faster compiler for better performance and, the software giant claims, makes it easier to develop COM and ActiveX-based applications. It also includes new Microsoft Foundation Classes aimed at Internet developers. The product is scheduled to ship on 19 March during the software giant?s Developer Days conference.
