Japan's giant telco NTT is reported to be in talks with Teligent, a US wireless communications company, with a view to taking a shareholding and gaining access to the lucrative US-Japanese telecomms market.
Teligent was set up in 1996 to develop telecomms services using proprietary radio communications. NTT itself has been the target of BT's affections since the UK telco announced its merger with MCI last year.
