Lexmark is aiming for the low end of the market with a new six-colour inkjet printer, the 7200 Colour Jet.
The printer offers six-colour printing at 1,200-x-1,200 dot-per-inch resolution and speeds of up to 8ppm (pages per minute) for black-and-white prints, or 3ppm for colour prints. Available in the US now, it is scheduled to be shipped to the UK in the first two weeks of November. It is priced at $399 (#249) in the US (UK price to be confirmed).
Tektronix, meanwhile, took a different tack last week and headed for the high end of the market with its relaunch of the Phaser 600 printer.
This solid ink wide-format colour printer, capable of a throughput of less than 12 minutes for an A0 page, is able to print on almost any medium.
The product's price has been slashed to #6,995, down from #9,495 when the model was launched six months ago.
