Now US analysts are talking of 'quadruple-play' as a result of four US cable companies entering the wireless arena in an alliance with carrier Sprint Nextel.
Combined they will bring a potential 75 million subscribers to Sprint, while Sprint has 45 million subscribers that will be contacted by the cable firms.
The firms are planning to develop services that allow subscribers to record TV on their digital video recorders (DVRs) which can then be transferred and watched on mobile phones. The phones will also be capable of remotely programming the DVRs.
