William Hill last week became the first mainland UK bookmaker to launch a football betting service on the Web aimed at gamblers in Europe and Asia. Tax laws mean UK residents cannot place bets on the site, but William Hill plans to develop a version of the site for UK users that will be rolled out by August, and which will also feature horse races. Other sports, including golf, will be added later this year.
