Cisco will introduce its Netbeyond family of remote access products this week, consolidating its Lan and Wan products for small and medium organisations.
Netbeyond brings together two series of remote access routers, two upgraded Lan switches and the FastHub 300 Series switches, which were introduced a few weeks ago. All the range can be managed from one console using the Ciscoworks Windows application.
The routers are modular devices that can accommodate various combinations of Ethernet, Token Ring and ISDN Basic Rate Interface. The 3620 router comes with two slots and the 3640 offers four slots, allowing it to be configured with up to six Primary Rate Interface ports.
Cisco has also added updated Etherswitch 1200 and 1400 stackable switches to the family. The switches support remote monitoring and the Cisco Group Multicast Protocol, which provides dynamic control of IP multicast.
