By definition, bandwidth refers to the range of frequencies used by a communications channel, but in recent times is simply used as a lazy shorthand term for data transfer speed.
This is most commonly seen when referring to network speeds, such as 100Mbit/s, which means 100 megabits of data can be transferred each second.
Often, you will see this as stating that a network has "a bandwidth of 100Mbit/s".
