There have already been a number of rumours and pre-announcements about new devices coming next year, so here is a brief round-up of what we can expect.
First, Nokia has confirmed that it'll be making its long-awaited return to the market. There are also rumours that Microsoft will be debuting the Surface Phone, and Samsung's Galaxy Note range looks set to make a comeback. And there's more.
1. iPhone 8
With the next year's iPhone marking the 10th anniversary of Apple's smartphone series, speculation is rife that the firm has something big in store.
If rumours are to be believed, Apple will skip the iPhone 7S in favour of the iPhone 8, which analysts claim will be the most radical design yet with its 'all-glass' design and OLED screen.
There's talk that the iPhone 8 will be the first to support wireless charging and a Touch ID sensor embedded in its display, while an all-new "Pro" model is rumoured to pack to feature an S7 Edge-style curved display and dual camera setup.
Apple's iPhone 8 (if that's what it turns out to be called) is expected to ship in September 2017.
