Apple's first printed adverts clarifying to confused consumers that Samsung's Galaxy Tab does not infringe on the iPad have started appearing in newspapers.
Friday's edition of The Guardian carries the advert on page five with possibly one of the dullest adverts ever to appear – no doubt Apple's intention – with no logos of any kind visible.
"On 9th July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronic (UK) Limited's Galaxy Tablet Computer, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple's registered design No. 0000181607-0001."
It goes on, but we will spare you the rest of the legal mumbo jumbo – read above if you wish.
The advert is a humiliating come-down for Apple after it lost the high-profile court case against Samsung in the UK courts over design rights, with Judge Birss ruling for Samsung because Apple's device is "cooler".
Although this is a nice way to lose a court case, Apple was forced to post the notices to inform consumers no issues were found, as the ongoing cases around the world may confuse people – absolutely correct.
Apple eventually relented, and posted something on its site but this was challenged by Samsung for being untrue and not adhering to the judge's order. A court on Thursday agreed and was shocked by Apple's surly attitude.
The firm even had one of its poor, hard-working, under-paid lawyers attempt to keep a straight face in open court by claiming it would take 14 days to amend a page of text on its website.
"This is Apple. They cannot put something on their website?" the judge said in response.
Apple has 24 hours to update its website, with the old apology page current missing.
