Scientists have finally figured out how bees are able to fly – apparently they've been trying to get to the root of the bee problem since 1934.
Understanding what makes a bee fly could benefit the aviation industry (yes, we're talking flapping wings on your next Airbus).
And on the side it shows why that whole creationist and smart design theory (as opposed to the evolution theory) has a fundamental flaw in that it chooses to assume a God-like hand in anything that humans don't understand. Personally I don't understand a thing about floating point calculations, but I don't use that lack of knowledge to claim that a God created them.
It all just goes to show that seemingly silly research actually can be of great benefit to society.
