New media can be a threat to the status quo, and therefore to…? Why, the children of course.
Currently video games, blogs and online chat sites have come under fire of causing irreparable damage to the nation's future.
Wired in its April issue has compiled a list of arguments against past mind alternating media. They were expected to cause the end of society, but miraculously have failed to do so.
The lists includes books ("poisoned the mind and corrupted the morals of many a promising youth") the waltz ("So long as this obscene display was con¬fined to prostitutes and adulteresses, we did not think it deserving of notice") and movies ("Society has prosecuted many for leading girls astray through these picture shows, but GOD alone knows how many are leading dissolute lives begun at the 'moving pictures.")
Yeah for progress and rebelling!
