But AT&T, the much derided American network provider for the iPhone and iPad, doesn't believe in any of that. Rather, its chief executive, Randall Stephenson, when bombarded by two emails from a disgruntled customer, had a lackey issue a cease and desist order.
You can listen to the message the company left here and it's lovely to hear the way the media-trained message-leaver turns from a smooth talking "thanks for your feedback" guy into a "we will issue a cease and desist order" monster in mere seconds.
Sneak thinks it's refreshing to find that there are some companies out there that just don't care.
They're not going to pretend that your opinion matters, that an annoyed customer matters a jot to the running of a worldwide brand. No, customers are just a nuisance, an irritation, something to threaten and hide away.
Sneak was, therefore, a little disappointed to hear that AT&T has since apologised for these actions, and tried to tempt the customer back to its big, happy family.
You stick to your guns AT&T, act like the ruthless capitalist firm you are, like all the big multi-nationals are, and tell it like it really is.
Sneak would suggest they team up, and adopt a rallying cry, to strike fear into the hearts of those who think they have the right to complain about the service they receive.
