With CES rapidly approaching, it's easy to forget Apple this time of the year. January is, however, when some of the company's biggest product announcements have been made.
To kick off the month there's some big news if you're an Apple shareholder. The company's market capitalisation has hit $300bn. A fairly big number on its own, but absolutely massive when you compare it to the rest of the business world.
Apple is now, in fact, part of a very exclusive club. The only other company in the world that has a market cap that large is petroleum giant ExxonMobile.
The news could get better in the very near future. After years of speculation, word is that Apple is on the verge of announcing a deal to bring the iPhone to a second provider in the US. The addition of support for the Verizon network could potentially open the door to millions of new customers in the US alone.
