Adobe Acrobat is a fantastic workhorse for creating PDF documents for both web and commercial printing. We don't mind waiting for Acrobat to start up if we need to spend time compiling or editing a PDF document. However, we don't want to have to wait for Adobe Reader to launch slowly, each time we want to view a PDF document. With some of the Acrobat technologies appearing in the latest Adobe Reader, opening PDF documents can be a long-winded process.
Adobe Reader StartUp 1.36 is software that removes some of the unnecessary startup features from Adobe Reader. This includes plugins, extensions and some of additional fonts that are loaded in to memory when you open your first PDF document. Of course, if you need these plugins and other features, at a later date, you can always go back to your original configuration.
Download Adobe Reader StartUp 1.36 and see if it makes a difference on your computer. Alternatively, give Foxit PDF Reader 2 or even JAWS PDF Editor 3.5 a try as they can both open PDF documents, quickly.
