If you have a wireless router, there is a strong chance that your router incorporates a hardware based firewall. This will protect every computer connected to your internal network, from outside intruders. It won't protect against spyware, malware or any malicious software that installs on your system as a result of downloading files from the web. To protect your system further, it's recommended that you install an individual software firewall on each computer and some anti-spyware software.
PC Tools Firewall Plus 2 has recently been released and is an updated version from the previous free firewall, released earlier this year. No information is available in regards to new features, but this product integrates with other PC Tools software, so if you're a PC Tools' fan, it might be worth downloading.
