Microsoft has released version 3.0 of Site Server and Site Server Commerce Edition, and claims that more than 1,000 large companies are using the products for intranet "knowledge management" and Ecommerce solutions.
Site Server 3.0 offers enterprise publishing capabilities, and search and delivery services, which Microsoft is pushing as a solution for knowledge management, a term normally associated with products offering document management and workflow capabilities.
Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition promises a high-volume, highly manageable Ecommerce solution aimed at online retailing, corporate purchasing and supply-chain management applications.
Site Server 3.0 costs #850 per server with five client access licences.
Commerce Edition costs #3,200 including 25 client licences.
