If organisations are to exploit the potential of revolution in web access trends that has come with the surge in sales for tablets and smartphones, then they are going to need to pay attention to how mobile web design and mobile apps in particular are being deployed. Apps are being connected to core systems willy-nilly, presenting some major data governance concerns. While marketing might be able to provide slick ideas and fancy graphics, if the code behind the website doesn't work properly, it's useless. IT needs to make sure it has full responsibility for this, especially when it comes to the agile nature of the mobile web.
