Content security vendor
Websense
today launched its first appliance product designed to give companies an easy
way to prevent staff surfing malicious web sites.
The
Websense
V10000 secure web gateway appliance features real-time content inspection,
and classification technologies from the Websense
ThreatSeeker
Network which help to prevent previously undetected threats.
Technology acquired through Websense's acquisition of
Defensio
gives the new appliance the ability to detect and prevent spam contained in
comments, along with malware embedded into blogs and other user-generated
content, according to the firm.
Websense V10000 also includes legacy anti-virus, reputation and other
analytics tools to control inbound and outbound content, and offers integration
with the
Websense
Data Security Suite for data loss prevention.
"We are bringing together all the major security elements of our secure web
gateway onto an easy to deploy and manage platform," explained Eoin Farrer,
director of web security sales at Websense.
"Traditional appliances are single purpose devices, but we are going to use
the internal virtualisation technology to layer in additional components onto
the same platform in future, so that customers will not have to buy extra
appliances for things like data security."
