Exalead enhances OEM search product

New technology features improved scalability and easier integration

Enterprise search vendor Exalead today launched a new version of its search and information application development platform designed specifically for independent software vendors (ISVs) and software-as-a-service providers.

CloudView OEM Edition 5.0 has been designed with improved performance and reduced total cost of ownership in mind, and aims to speed time to market for software product teams by making it easier to embed into existing offerings, according to the company.

An extensive set of standards-based application programming interfaces, along with broad support for operating platforms, programming languages and protocols, simplifies the installation process for developers, the firm said.

CloudView can also scale to support over 500TB of data per server cluster, and more than 100 million documents on a single server. It features semantic technology to enhance the analysis and categorisation of structured and unstructured data, which Exalead said can improve the relevancy of searches.

"As the use of traditional web and Web 2.0 technologies, including wikis, instant messaging, social networking and collaboration, has proliferated within the enterprise, users have come to expect the same simplicity, speed and scale from their enterprise software providers," said Paul Doscher, chief executive of Exalead.

"The challenge for ISVs is to provide that same experience in their search capabilities without sacrificing the security and precision required for enterprise use."
