CES: Samsung launches green monitors

New range bolsters the electronics giant's green credentials

Samsung used the annual CES show in Las Veags this week to expand its range of LCD monitors with three new eco-friendly products to add to its family of Touch of Color (ToC) desktop displays.

The new monitors - the P2070, P2270 and P2370 - feature a 16:9 aspect ratio and ultra-fast 2ms grey to grey (G2G) video response time. The P2270 and P2370 also offer a 1080p full-HD experience, said Samsung.

In addition, a plastic bezel frame is designed to minimise light reflection and therefore reduce screen glare.

Samsung claims its new ToC monitors consume half the normal wattage of other monitors by using two-lamp low power consumption, while the manufacturing process eliminates harmful paints and sprays to make it easier to recycle monitors.

"Samsung understands the various needs of our customers, and we continue to deliver an amazing line of high-quality desktop monitors that offer excellent quality, design and reliability," said Ami Randhawa, commercial manager of Samsung UK's display division.

"We are proud to offer these new monitors that feature environmentally-friendly designs based on two-lamp power consumption and one of industry's best response times of 2ms.”
