Avaya launches all-in-one unified comms package

IP telephony vendor touts enterprise communications suite

Dave Bailey

Avaya has unveiled its Unified Communications All Inclusive package aimed at companies wishing to deploy an all-in-one unified communications (UC) system.

The new suite adds a range of mobile and desktop applications to Avaya's Communication Manager. The extra functions are available at no extra cost for users of Communication Manager 5.0 Enterprise Edition, although those on the standard package will have to pay £32 per user licence.

The package offers single number access and the ability to switch between communication modes and applications. Included in Avaya's system is the One-X Communicator, a next-generation softphone with H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol audio and video.

One-X Portal gives firms the ability to deliver web-based telephony, messaging, contacts and conferencing through any public or private Windows, Mac or Linux-based system.

Users seeking added productivity through integrated mobile communications can use One-X Mobile, a system compatible with over 500 mobile devices, including Apple's iPhone, Symbian, RIM, Palm, Java and Windows-based devices, according to Avaya.

Firms using virtual private networks can take advantage of Avaya's VPNremote software allowing users to plug an Avaya IP phone into their corporate network from anywhere in the world.

Users seeking integration with Microsoft Office Communicator and IBM's Lotus Sametime system will be offered Avaya's Applications Enablement Server, which can use click-to-call through these applications.

Finally, companies looking to have an instant view of a user's communications status can use Avaya Intelligent Presence to aggregate such information from multiple sources and different protocols.

Avaya's Unified Communications All Inclusive package is available now in EMEA and North America, and globally by January 2009.
