Sybase iAnywhere has released a new version of its tool that lets users keep their email, calendar, contacts, tasks and notes on their PC synchronised with their mobile device.

Available now, XTNDConnect PC 7.0 adds support for Windows Vista Contacts, Calendar and Tasks, and Google Calendar. It also now has dynamic detection of most mobile devices, as well as faster synchronisation, according to the firm.

XTNDConnect PC supports a wide range of devices, including those running Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm OS.

It enables any of these to synchronise with common PIM applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and Lotus Organiser, and Novell GroupWise, the firm said.

Vista synchronisation is one feature users have been asking for, according to Sybase iAnywhere senior product marketing manager Terry Orsborn.

"We have seen a significant increase in customer demand for a simple way to synchronise Microsoft Vista contacts, calendar and tasks with mobile devices," he said.

The new version is available to download for $59.95 (£33.21) per user licence or $39.95 (£22.12) for existing users.
