IT consulting firm GlassHouse Technologies will launch a suite of managed
services for virtual environments at this week's
VMworld
2008 show in Las Vegas.
IT departments will be able to monitor virtual environments with the new
services, providing them with data on the productivity, capacity and return on
investment of their virtual machines.
"From day one customers will be offered 40 reports and they can define which
ones they want and automate how often they are received," said Andrew McCreath,
Glasshouse engagement partner.
The company will partner with Tek-Tools Software to deliver the new services.
"This allows us to probe into a customer's infrastructure and gather the data,"
said McCreath. "While Glasshouse provides the management interface, Tek-Tools
can access the raw metrics."
Cindy Whitley, Tek-Tools chief operating officer, said: "We have been working
with Glasshouse for some time now helping customers manage complex storage and
backup operations and are thrilled to expand our partnership with this Managed
Services for Virtual Environments solution."
Customers will have a choice of two managed services packages: a Full Managed
Service package, and a Reporting and Monitoring option. The price will depend on
the scale of the hosted solution.
