AVG Technologies will release AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0 tomorrow, the latest
version of its popular free security software.
In addition to core protection against viruses, the latest release has been
improved with integrated protection against spyware.
AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0 also incorporates the safe-searching component of the
company's LinkScanner technology, which provides real-time flagging of malicious
hyperlinks in Google, Yahoo and MSN search results.
"With the release of AVG Free 8.0, we are underscoring our belief that all
computer users, regardless of their needs, have the right to a safe and
worry-free computing experience," said Karel Obluk, chief technology officer at
AVG Technologies.
The software also offers a revamped scanning engine for faster performance,
and reduced system resource requirements.
AVG Technologies released the version 8.0 of its commercial products in
February 2008.
Home users can choose AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall or AVG
Internet Security.
Business users can select networked versions of the Anti-Virus and Internet
Security products as well as file-server and email-server based antivirus.
AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0 will be
available
to download from 24 April.
