McAfee has taken the wraps off its Total Protection for Network suite at the
InfoSec
security show in London which it claims is the fastest in its class.
The suite includes the McAfee M-8000 Network Security Platform, formerly
known as IntruShield, and the McAfee Content Security Blade Server.
The new system is designed to end the "appliance and product fatigue"
associated with deploying, maintaining and managing multiple security systems.
"As enterprises deploy advanced network features and capabilities, security
challenges are expanded by a complex threat environment that requires additional
security solutions," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at analyst firm
IDC.
"However, administering multiple security solutions has become unmanageable.
Firms looking to simplify network security without compromising network or
security performance should consider integrated and centrally managed suite
solutions."
IDC believes that IT professionals value suite security solutions because of
ease of use, manageability and performance.

McAfee said that IT managers are increasingly inundated with new security
appliances, each designed to combat a specific threat, which decreases
efficiency and increases cost of ownership.
The new suite aims to help organisations consolidate all their network
security needs, thereby allowing the network to operate more quickly and
efficiently.
"Our customers tell us they are frustrated with managing so many point
products, while the costs of doing so continues to mount," said Christopher
Bolin, chief technology officer at McAfee.
"By reducing the number of appliances in their environments, organisations
save money and contribute to more environmentally friendly computing practices.
"
McAfee Total Protection for Network is available in enterprise and mid-sized
business versions.
