Trend Micro buys UK encryption firm

Identum snapped up for undisclosed sum

Security firm Trend Micro is to acquire UK-based Identum, a developer of email encryption and cryptography technologies.

Under its new name of Trend Micro (Bristol), the company will integrate Identum's technology into existing Trend Micro offerings.

Eva Chen, chief executive and co-founder at Trend Micro, claimed that the acquisition will ensure a more secure internet experience for customers.

Andy Dancer, chief technical officer at Identum, added: "Our team of cryptography experts is excited at the opportunity to join Trend Micro which is lauded for its innovative security solutions."

Existing Identum products will continue to be available under Trend Micro's brand. Financial details were not disclosed.
