An improved service which better optimises the user experience

If you're reading this you've probably already noticed that vnunet.com has had a makeover, the eighth in its illustrious 12-year history.

The launch of vnunet.com version 8.0 marks the latest in a long line of editorial firsts from the website's highly acclaimed teams in the UK, the US and Asia.

Months of development work has allowed us to improve our service and optimise the user experience.

With the new site our aim is to simplify breaking technology news, reviews and downloads, allowing users to access and interact with our information in more ways than ever before.

"Our goal was to create a fully integrated experience in which articles, videos, images and user-generated content combine to give users a more enriching, seamless interaction with the technology news content and information they need and want," said John Barnes, managing director of digital strategy and development at Incisive Media.

As well the crisp new layout, vnunet.com's new site offers a seamless integration of rich media including text, video and audio articles, allowing users to find all content on a particular topic, regardless of the format.

One of the most striking new features is the media library carousel, a rotating media player which showcases video and audio content.

The launch also brings a new level of user interaction, allowing readers to offer feedback via polls, tagging, rating, referring, clipping and syndication of all content types.

Robert Jaques, associate editor at vnunet.com, said: "It is fitting that vnunet.com version 8.0 coincides with our 12th birthday.

"Throughout these years we have been at the forefront of editorial innovation, striving continuously to improve the website and the service it provides to our loyal readership.

"In this context it was no accident that vnunet.com's team was one of the first in the UK to offer video coverage of breaking news events.

"We were also the first to offer podcasts, a service launched in 1999 as vnunet.com Radio years before the term 'podcast' had even been invented.

"Building on this rich editorial heritage of innovation we are pleased to launch our new site which offers significant functionality and usability enhancements to our 1.2 million readers."

Please help us to improve vnunet.com by commenting on the redesign, or any aspect of the site. We have set up a reader forum thread where we welcome your comments.
