UK-based processor firm
Arm has extended
an existing long-term licensing agreement with
Samsung
Electronics.
Under the terms of the deal, Samsung will continue to have access to all Arm
processors and AMBA on-chip interconnect and controller intellectual property
for the wireless, digital consumer and mobile internet device markets.
The deal extends a previous subscription licence agreement and will enable
Samsung to obtain early access to new technology, including the recently
announced Arm Cortex-A9 processor, and broad access to a wide range of Arm
intellectual property.
"We have enjoyed a very close relationship with Samsung for many years and are
confident that this will strengthen that mutually beneficial partnership," said
Graham Budd, executive vice president and general manager at Arm's Processor
Division.
Sung Bae Park, vice president of the System LSI Division at Samsung, added:
"The Arm technology will be integrated into our portfolio for next-generation
electronic products, including portable media players and mobile internet
devices."
