Size matters

Storage firm G-Technology has unveiled what it claims is the industry's first 1TB portable external storage drive.

The G-Raid mini with Raid 0 features a triple FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interface for universal connectivity to Mac and PC workstations and laptops.

It appears to any Mac or PC as a single, big and fast disk drive, ready right out of the box for use with Mac OS X systems.

The unit supports simultaneous playback of multiple layers of video in Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and Avid Xpress Pro.

Under the hood, the G-Raid boasts an Oxford 924 bridge chipset and a quiet fan and heat sink, encased in an all-aluminium enclosure.

The device is set to be available in March.
