The company responsible for licensing the
High-Definition
Multimedia Interface (HDMI) specification has unveiled an initiative
designed to help the installer community more effectively install home cinema
systems connected with HDMI.
HDMI
Licensing now offers a dedicated
web-based
installer area on its website, featuring web seminars developed specifically
for installers.
The firm also provides a knowledge base with tips and answers to help solve
installation issues and questions.
HDMI is the digital connectivity platform for high-definition consumer
electronics, including TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players and AV receivers.
HDMI Licensing said that installing with HDMI creates new challenges for
installers accustomed to working with analogue connections.
The firm has created a resource to provide installers with the most current
technical and 'how-to' information with contributions from recognised leaders in
the installer community.
"The installer community represents a critical part of the HD services
ecosystem and is facing a fundamental change in the technologies they use to
provide the highest quality entertainment experience," said Leslie Chard,
president of HDMI Licensing.
"HDMI is essential to this new technology offering. As the agent responsible
for HDMI, and the most direct source of information regarding HDMI, we recognise
the need to provide installers with resources that will help them."
