The Nintendo Wii
scooped six
Baftas in
last night's awards ceremony for the gaming community.
Wii Sports, which comes free with the Nintendo console, won for Best
Sports Game, Best Strategy and Simulation Game, Best Casual Game, Best Gameplay,
Best Innovation and Best Multiplayer Game.
There were double wins for God of War 2 and Okami, the only
other multiple winners of the night.
God of War 2 took Best Technical Achievement and Best Story and
Character, while Okami won for Best Artisitic Achievement and Best
Original Score.
Bioshock on the
Xbox 360 scooped
Best Game, its only award of the night – although one more than
Gears of War which
was beaten in several categories.
Football Manager 2007 triumphed in the PC World Gamers Award, the
only award to be voted for by the public.
Crackdown's win in the Action and Adventure category and
Ragnarawk's award in the Bafta Ones to Watch group rounded out the list
of winners.
Games legend Will Wright also received the Academy's Fellowship award.
Wright's work for more than 20 years in the industry has included Raid On
Bungling Bay (1984), SimCity (1989), SimCity 2000
(1993), SimCity 4 (2003) and SimCity DS (2007), as well as for
inspiring The Sims.
