Nintendo
sold as many
Wii games
consoles in February as both its main competitors put together, according to
figures released in the US.
Research firm
NPD put the
Nintendo Wii at 355,000 units for the month.
Microsoft's
Xbox 360 managed
228,000 units and
Sony's
PlayStation
3 just 127,000.
Microsoft has now sold 5.1 million Xbox 360s, while Nintendo and Sony are
still yet to ship two million of their latest machines.
"If the Xbox 360 and the games that work on it continue to gain share, Sony
is in real trouble," said Douglas McIntyre, an analyst at
24/7
Wall Street.
"The Wii caters to a different, lower price point in the market, and should
continue to roll up big numbers. Not so the PlayStation 3."
