Korean electronics giant LG has launched its first ever mobile handset specifically geared towards instant messaging (IM) users.

LG's Mobile division has selected the iFollow Client from Followap, a developer of mobile IM and presence software, to be integrated into its latest 3G handset, the LG U300.

The LG U300 is designed specifically for the IM user, featuring a key which allows access to a personal MSN Messenger community with one click. The device can also support alternative IM communities.

Followap said that its iFollow Client has been specifically developed to meet the demands of operators and handset manufacturers alike.

The company claimed that it has supplied the first third-party IM application to be integrated into a manufacturer's handset to power mobile instant messaging.
