Google has unveiled a
new service that allows users to host and edit personal home pages using the new
Google Page Creator
website editor.
Homepages will be hosted at gmailusername. googlepages.com, and each new page
will automatically be submitted to Google's search engine.
The editing service offers an online visual tool that lets users build web
pages. It has a 'what you see is what you get' interface, and requires no HTML
editing skills.
The service is currently in beta and will only allow users to create
individual pages. A website building tool is scheduled for a later launch,
Google said on a help page for the service. Hosting space is capped at 100MB.
Google Page Creator requires a
Gmail account, and
supports
Internet
Explorer and Firefox. The service will accept only a
limited number of users for now, and had run out of accounts when this story was
posted.
Screenshots for the service are available on the
Silicon
Valley Sleuth blog.
