IBM has previewed a new
set of tools that allows enterprises to use blogs for collaboration, bringing
enterprise class management tools to the world of online diaries.
Blogging applications have so far catered to individuals who make postings
without any support or management from a larger entity.
The test version of the software offers a single management console to
maintain multiple blogs, integrated search and security, along with predefined
user roles and templates.
The new tools integrate with IBM's Workplace collaboration platform, and will
be included in the software in August.
The preview can be downloaded for free at IBM's
Alphaworks
website.
Big Blue's
Domino
collaboration suite already allows users to publish blogs, and the company
claims that more than 100 public blogs are being powered by the software.
