A newly launched ISP called
Be Unlimited will
shortly roll out ADSL2 broadband services with speeds of up to 24Mbps, the
fastest ever offered by a commercial service in the UK.
Boris Ivanovic, founder of Be Unlimited, broke records in 2001 when he bought
Swedish ISP Bostream and launched that country's fastest service at 26Mbps.
In just three years Bostream's customer base rose from 2,000 to 100,000, and
revenues soared from $1m to $55m.
"The deregulation of the market makes this a very exciting time for the UK
and Be is here to make the most of it, offering customers the full capability of
ADSL2+ from launch," said Ivanovic.
"There is no reason to drag out the increase in speed steps of 1Mbps or 2Mbps
when the capability is there to offer the maximum speeds available, which is
what Be is all about."
The service will be trialled in London initially and extended to the rest of
the country.
