UK men make some of the world's most faithful partners, with only one per cent visiting dating websites in search of extramarital liaisons, research has claimed.
According to a newly published global study by dating site CupidBay.com, married men living in India proved to be the most unfaithful, where an astonishing 49 per cent actively seek sexual relationships on the web.
Second place in the love rat stakes was Pakistan, with seven per cent of husbands using the internet to seek extramarital sex. This was followed by men from Egypt and Saudi Arabia, at six per cent and five per cent respectively.
In contrast American men proved to be devoted to their wives, with just two per cent looking to cheat, although they were still twice as likely to do the dirty as their UK counterparts.
The most faithful of the world's married men reside in countries including the Republic of Ireland, Cyprus, Greece and Scandinavia with all of these areas polling less than one per cent.
"The study is an eye opener and may be indicative of changing attitudes towards marriage across the world," said CupidBay's relationship guru, Francis Deacon.
