The SCO Group's self-imposed 90-day deadline for beginning legal action against Linux users has passed without any sign of movement from the company.
On 18 November 2003, SCO announced that it would begin legal action within 90 days. In January, it said that action could start as early as the beginning of February.
SCO director of public relations Blake Stowell told vnunet.com last week that, although the company had missed its deadline, it was still planning to take action within "a matter of days".
But analysts are sceptical. Gary Barnett, principal analyst at Ovum, suggested that court action could be difficult for SCO because so far it has not proved its ownership of Linux.
"I do not believe that SCO intends to go to court with a user at this time," he said. "The likelihood of the case being thrown out is too high."
