ISPs to cut business broadband charges

Small firms in line for ADSL bonanza as providers respond to BT price cuts

Dinah Greek

A number of internet service providers (ISPs) are cutting the cost of ADSL broadband access to business customers, and more are expected to follow suit.

UK Datanet, V21, Eclipse Internet, Zen Internet and Plusnet have all confirmed that they will pass on to business customers some of the cost savings they will make from 1 May when BT cuts the cost of its wholesale business ADSL products.

In some cases the savings to small businesses could be considerable, with ISPs offering reductions of up to 40 per cent on monthly broadband bills.

Customers of ISPs such as Eclipse and V21 will see bills drop to £34 per month for a 512Kbps connection.

Sadly for consumers, ISPs contacted by vnunet.com, such as AOL, Freeserve and Tiscali said that they have no plans to cut the price of ADSL at the moment.
