AOL has released its new family-focused broadband product in the UK, priced at £35 per month plus a one-off fee £25 for a modem.

After 15 July the price of the service remains the same but the modem increases to £85.

Although the package is more expensive than rivals', AOL claims that it will more than make up for the charges by providing multimedia services.

AOL UK chief executive Karen Thomson said that the AOL Broadband service will provide members with exclusive access to multimedia content and services from the AOL Time Warner stable of brands and other broadband partners.

These include movie clips and trailers, full-length Cartoon Network films and interactive games.

It will also feature video/audio news and sport from CNN, news and videos from BBC Music, internet radio and online karaoke.
