Compaq has deservedly made it into the illustrious pages of Private Eye this week after "explaining" why it was changing the colour of its enterprise kit.

The following entry from Compaq's website was quoted in the satirical rag's Pseuds Corporate section:

Q. Why is Compaq changing the colours of its ProLiant servers and racks?

A. Rather than changing colours, we are leveraging a portion of our colour palette - which includes Graphite, Carbon and Silver - across our Compaq ProLiant, AlphaSerer, Himalaya and Storage Works product lines. This new consistency is the culmination of our strategy to integrate the three heritage businesses of Compaq, Tandem and Digital Equipment Corporation in the enterprise customer space.

So that's clear then.
