Dutch publisher VNU (owner of vnunet.com) has agreed to develop a pan-European recruitment portal, called newmonday.com, in partnership with recruitment giant Randstad Holding.

Randstad, the world's third largest recruiter, will contribute 68m euros (£42.5m) to the 50:50 joint venture, which will launch in September. The venture will also consider an initial public offering.

Newmonday.com will use the platforms of VNU's existing recruitment websites, jobworld and intermediair.nl, to build the new site. These sites will continue to operate separately.

Aimed at graduates, newmonday.com will include a job matching service using a new database of CVs and vacancies. At launch, the companies expect to have 25,000 vacancies and 500,000 CVs in the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, France and Germany.

Other features of the site include self-assessment, psychometric testing and tools for recruitment agencies. The companies said they will operate strictly in accordance with European and national privacy rules.
